Terms of Service

App: SheriaNet · Developer: WadesLabs by Edgar Agayi · Effective: 3 May 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and WadesLabs, a software studio operated by Edgar Agayi based in Nairobi, Kenya ("we", "us", "our"), the publisher of the SheriaNet mobile application and the website at sheria.net (together, the "Service"). By downloading, installing, or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

SheriaNet is a research and information tool. It is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Information in the app is provided for general informational purposes only and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified Kenyan advocate. Always consult an advocate before acting on any matter.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements and that your use does not violate any law applicable to you.

2. No account required

SheriaNet does not require you to create an account or sign in. You can install and use the app without giving us your name, email address, phone number, or password. The information the app does collect (a random install identifier and aggregated analytics) is described in our Privacy Policy.

3. Permitted use

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for lawful personal or professional research. You agree NOT to:

4. Content & intellectual property

Court judgments, statutes and other primary legal materials in SheriaNet are public records of the Republic of Kenya and are not owned by us. Our compilation, indexing, summaries, search interfaces, code, branding, and any AI-generated explanations are owned by WadesLabs and protected by copyright and other laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of those rights to you.

Bookmarks, highlights and notes you create in the app are stored only on your device — we do not host them, and they remain entirely yours.

5. AI-assisted answers

Some features may use machine-learning models to summarise authorities or generate plain-English explanations. These outputs may contain mistakes, omissions, or out-of-date information. You must independently verify any AI-generated answer against the underlying judgment or statute before relying on it. We make no warranty that AI features are accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose.

6. No legal advice

We are not advocates. We do not represent you. No advocate-client relationship is created by your use of the Service or by communicating with us. If you face a legal problem, instruct a qualified Kenyan advocate.

7. Paid features

If we offer paid features through Google Play, Google's billing terms apply to the transaction. Refund and cancellation rights are provided by Google's policies. Recurring subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled in your Google Play account. We may change prices on notice; any change will not affect a billing period already paid for.

8. Updates

We may release updates, change features, or discontinue parts of the Service at any time. We aim to give reasonable notice of material changes that adversely affect users.

9. Beta / pre-release

If you participate in our beta programme (see /beta), you understand that beta builds may be unstable, may change without notice, and may be discontinued. Feedback you provide may be used to improve the app without obligation or compensation to you.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the app. We may suspend or remove the Service, or block specific installs that we reasonably believe are violating these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or its users. Sections 4, 6, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 survive termination.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of legal information, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any defects will be corrected.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we (including our directors, employees and contractors) will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability to you for all claims arising in any 12-month period will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in that period, or (b) KES 5,000.

13. Indemnity

You will indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya. The courts of Kenya have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service, without prejudice to your rights under mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated Terms will be posted at sheria.net/terms with a new effective date. Continued use of the Service after the update means you accept the new Terms.
